Reverence To The Holy Prophet

Q. God and his angles offer Darood or 'blessings' on the Prophet. How do they do that?

A. God is above praising anyone. God only enjoins, while the angles carry out the orders.

Example:

I was traveling together with some friends and as soon as there was time for prayers, one of us led the prayers while others followed and thus the prayer was offered in congregation. Having done so, we said that we offered prayer in congregation while in fact the Imam (leader) led the prayers and the rest of us followed. so, in an act in which the active agent is one and the followers many, instead of the active agent only the followers are mentioned when the act is referred to. Thus as far the injunction to offer 'Darood', God issues the injunction while the angels carry out that injunction. Angels, in very large numbers, descend every morning on the shrine of the Holy Prophet to show their respect and stay there till evening, when after they leave another group arrives. These groups of angles descend on the shrine to show their respect and send 'Darood' on the Holy Prophet.

When anyone of us, says the words  in order to send 'Darood' on the Holy Prophet, God enjoins; 'O Angels! quickly offer two rakat supererogatory prayer each as a mark of respect to the Holy Prophet. Thus, supererogatory prayers in such large number are offered in return for "Darood" offered by us only once. We could not have offered prayers in such a large number, therefore God called upon his angles to perform this duty. God issues the injunction while the angles carry it out and that is how 'Darood' is offered for the Holy Prophet.
