Muhammad Munir was born in 1926 at Faisalabad (Pakistan). After high school graduation he devoted himself as a research scholar and probed unravelling the secrets of life and the universe. Even after joining service in the Federal Government of Pakistan in 1949 he continued his research studies. During his service he was transferred in 1963 to serve Pakistan Embassy in USA where he lived up to 1969. During his stay in USA Muhammad Munir carried out his research studies through different libraries situated in Washington D.C. This provided him the opportunity to thoroughly study the contributions made by the Western scholars under the great stress to know the relation of life and the universe.

The inborn curiosity and his inquiring mind led him to study the modern scientific discoveries in different scientific fields under the Quranic revelations. It allowed him to know more about unified view of creation of life and universe and in 1982 in his first attempt he produced his research work titled “God, Universe and Life” in a methodical and scientific manner which was appreciated by a number of scholars in and outside the country.

Muhammad Munir’s inquiring mind not yet satisfied and with a view to devote more fully in research studies, he sought premature retirement as Section Officer from Government service in 1981. It afforded him to devote his full time in research studies to find out universal laws underlying creation of the universe and life as contained in the Holy Quran vis-à-vis the modern philosophies, theories and probabilities as expressed by the scientists during the last 200 years. Ultimately he published his life-long research work titled “The Universe Beyond” in which he unravelled the mystery of the creation of the life and universe as established under concrete universal laws.

According to the work presented by Muhammad Munir the creation of universe has taken place in successive rational orders or stages. A stage of development when it had run its course got sealed, immutably fixing the values attained at the stage. Next stage, simultaneously starting at its lowest rung rationally dominated the earlier stages as it progressed. If this was not so and had the process of development continued at each creative stage (varieties kept coming up) there would have been chaos and higher processes of life and order would not have emerged. So came man simultaneously with the sealing of animal life stage, when it had run its course, the values attained getting fixed. And he, coming in the last a self-conscious entity sits at the top of all creations dominating all earlier rational stages. 

Muhammad Munir describes the universe as a living rational order which has been created in successive rational orders; each higher rational (life) order appeared relative to progressive appearance of life or consciousness. Thus the work presented in the book is neither a philosophy nor is it a piece of academic writing. But on the other hand it is the only scientifically objective spiritual interpretation of the entire universe as understood in the light of the Qurnaic revelations and the scientific discoveries made by the Western scholars during the last 200 years. Being the only unified scientific interpretation of the universe laid under concrete accepted laws of modern physics and natural sciences, it discards all subjective philosophies as well as modern materialistic concepts, theories and probabilities. conceived by the Western scholars. The monumental work of Muhammad Munir over-rides not only the old speculative philosophies right from Schopenhaur up to Hume Spinoza, Kant and William James on the relation ship of the man and the spirit but it also prevails over all the modern philosophers of science of the West such as Lucretius, Copernicus, Francis Bacon, Descartes, Comte, Darwin, Bergson, Sigmund Freud, Whitehead, Jeans, Eddington who extensively debated on the relationship of man and the universe.

The research studies of Muhammad Munir have established that the nature of development of universe is not mechanical. In support of his claim he thus poses a question to the materialists and evolutionists alike : “Let us ponder, he says, over these facts: Simultaneously on accomplishment of values in a creative stage to the affinity, the stage is closed on it and no more laws, values or species are created in the stage; and (b) the higher creative stage though takes its start from insignificant values of the stage it never comes down to the preceding stages(s) nor can on completion jump on the higher stage and at the same time without overthrowing the values so fixed in the 
whole nature living beneath it intelligently dominates them. The question is can we call this living process of designing, controlling and creating in successive stages a mechanics or the out come of a mere chance? If not then we must realize the existence of a certain Absolute Living Entity Who has been manifesting His attributes in the form of creation.” The universe being the rational order its creation in successive rational stages implies appearance of greater and greater cognition and appreciation in creation and possibilities, attributes and beauty of its Creator as it develops from stage to stage and comes nearer the Will and Desire of its Creator.

The life-long research work of Muhammad Munir unraveling secrets of the life and universe renews ones belief in his own self as against the absurdity of existence that dominates the modern human thought giving rise to ethnicity, corruption, crime, war, sexual perversion and what not, a natural corollary when the sight is thwarted of its vision beyond. His research studies would reveal that the modern theories of science which are propagated to lay against the vision of Islam will soon negate them when the modern man knew the reality of the life and the universe.

Muhammad Munir has rightly probed and investigated all such absurd ideas which have gripped the mind of modern man. Today, the modern man believes that matter is eternal. It being the only reality the universe is not creation; it is an evolution. These concepts have universal misleading impact on humanity. All man-made ideologies such as Communism, Socialism, Capitalism, Nationalism as well as materialistic philosophies and theories such as Darwin’s theory of Origin, Freud’s theory on unconscious, Frederick Engels Dialectics of Nature have been raised on the above concepts. If we except that matter is a realty not a creation, we will have to reject the existence of God. The assault of these material concepts has been so intense that even a large number of those educated people who believe in spiritual values of life do not know that they are already the victim of these materialistic and agnostic thoughts.

Besides the above pioneering works, Muhammad Munir analysed the Darwin’s theory “Origin of Species” which is added as an independent chapter in “The Universe Beyond”. He also critically analysed Frederick Engles Dialectics of Nature which gives materialistic out-look of life and universe. Unfortunately this work has not yet been published. Besides, Muhammad Munir’s publications such as “Sirr-i-Hayat” and “Ma-wara-i-Kainat”in Urdu are precious contributions in the research field.
