The Aga Khan Foundation (pakistan) is an international development

The education portfolio of AKF(P) forms a large part of AKF's education development both nationally and internationally, ranging from communities to establish their own schools in the remote rural areas to providing intensive Master/PhD teacher education at the Aga Khan University institute for educational development in Karachi. In recognition of the growing demands of the education portfolio, AF(P) is currently seeking to appoint an Islamabad based Assistant Program Office, Education, on a one year renewable contract.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Program Office, Education in carrying out the day to day management of the education program. HE /She will assist with: the ongoing development of strong working relationships with grantee partners and donor agency staff in Pakistan; liaising with and raising awareness of AKF education programmes with educational network agencies; the development of gender awareness best practices; developing AKF(P) as a learning and resource organization; grant management and with the timely preparation and submission of high quality narrative and financial reports. Furthermore, the candidate will provide professional support and advice to programmes particularly relating to community participation in education and be able to monitor, evaluate, document and disseminate replicable good practice.
Preference will be give to Pakistani candidates possessing a Master Degree in education, with knowledge of community/primary education and community development. The candidate will also have at least 3 years experience working with NGOs and community mobilization and familiarity with project planning and management.
This position requires a highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills, an interest in budgets, community participation in education and documentation of practice. Excellent conceptual, numerical, verbal and written skills in English and Urdu; familiarity with MS Word and Excel and the ability to work as a member of a team and independently to meet the development objectives of the AKDN in Pakistan with creativity, clear thinking and direction is expected.
