If you get a modem squawk, check the following:

Call waiting settings.
Call waiting needs to be turned off during connection. To do this,
in Windows, go to My Computer, Control Panel, Modems, Dialing Properties.
Check the appropriate box and enter the disabling code. Typical disabling
codes are (the last one has a comma which tells the modem to wait 2 seconds):
*70, 70#, or
1170,.
5. Internet Explorer could

The caller is on a network and
should contact their system administrator. It might solve the problem if
you go into the dialer and into the "Server Type" settings and uncheck
the "NetBEUI" and "TCP/IP". Reboot and try again.
