| Picture perfect – make your honeymoon
memories last beautifully with these great photography tips
1. Practice with your camera. If you’ve
bought a new camera, shoot a roll at home and develop it before you go
on your honeymoon.
2.  Buy extra film and batteries before
you leave home. Film and camera accessories may not be available, or
may be expensive, in hotel gift shops and at tourist attractions.
3. Check ASA speed. Take along a variety
of film speeds if you are using a 35mm camera. ASA 64 or ASA 100 are good
for bright sunlight; ASA 400 works well in lower light conditions. Use
ASA 1000 for indoor and nighttime shots (if you don’t have a flash.) Always
double-check that the ASA setting of your camera matches the speed of the
film you have in your camera.
4. Hold your camera steady. This assures
that your pictures will be  in focus. In low light, use a tripod
or lean your camera, or yourself, against a wall or post.
5. Bracket important shots. Under tricky
light conditions such as sunsets, try bracketing your shots—override
your camera’s light meter, and shoot a picture at both slower and faster
speeds than the meter indicates, to guarantee one correct exposure.
6. Protect your camera. Extremes in temperature
can ruin film and the lens of your camera; dust and moisture—both seawater
and humidity—can jam delicate components.
7. Know the limitations of fully automatic cameras.
Make sure you focus properly. Get close to your subject. Avoid contrasting
light situations or subjects in motion—most automatics can’t handle them.
8. Never shoot into the sun! Unless you
are well versed in photography, it’s extremely difficult to achieve good
results.
9. Lock the shutter when not in use. It
prevents accidental exposures and keeps batteries from running down. |
