| where to stay on your wedding night
In the movies, just-marrieds leave their weddings
and immediately depart on their honeymoons,
arriving thousands of miles away feeling fresh and energetic. In real life,
couples who have just celebrated their weddings are usually both exhausted
and exhilarated, and not in any condition to start traveling.
Spending your wedding night someplace special is
the perfect way to get your honeymoon off to a romantic, and well-rested,
start. After all the chaos and stress of wedding planning, it’s
important that you treat yourselves to special accommodations on your first
night as man and wife.  Even if you live close by your reception
site, don't go home on the day of your wedding – this is no time for the
jolt of reality.  Keep that magic feeling that you’re sure to have
right after your wedding for a little while longer. Most traditional hotels
offer special honeymoon suites – these are usually larger than normal rooms,
perhaps more elegantly furnished and with extra amenities like better views
or a whirlpool bath.  Some offer wonderful packages that include
a bottle of champagne and chocolate or fruit, breakfast in bed the next
morning, and late check-out.  Many inns and smaller hotels also
offer special honeymoon suites, too, so if your schedule isn’t too tight,
visit a few places before making your choice. You might prefer the glamour
of a first-class hotel in the center of a city, or maybe the romantic,
quiet setting of a small country inn. Inspecting the honeymoon suite before
the wedding day ensures neither of you will be disappointed by accommodations
that don't live up to your expectations.
If you’re leaving for your honeymoon on
an early morning flight, a hotel very close to the airport is a good idea.
Although airport hotels aren’t best known for their glamour or romance,
many are quite luxurious. Look for a hotel that offers shuttle service
to the airport so you won't have to deal with the inconvenience of airport
parking.
If you’re having trouble rationalizing staying
in a special hotel honeymoon suite when you’ll be arriving late and leaving
early, remember: you only have one wedding night, and even if it's only
a few hours long, you’ll want it to be special. |
