be set to flash a perfect 10 !
Can't
wait to dry ?
If you're
impossibly impatient, it might be torture to sit still for the time it
takes to dry polish. Here are a few tricks of the nail trade to speed it
up; Wait five minutes, then run nails under cold water for a minute or
so. The cold temperature will help set the polish. Wait until nails are
almost dry and apply a dab of baby oil. The oil will form a barrier between
the nail and whatever you might come in contact with. Don't push it, though.
If you dig in your purse or shove your hands in your pockets, you'll have
to start over. Try quick-dry products.
The
perfect take-off
Removing
nail polish can be as tricky as putting it on – especially when you're
dealing with winter's dark, rich color and glitter. There are many tips
on how to take it all off, the most common is here for you.
Choose a remover
that contains acetone. The acetone-free removers may be gentler, but you'll
end up using a lot more and exposing your nail to the product a lot longer,
which also contributes to drying. Apply a small amount of remover to a
cotton ball and press it on your nail. Let it soak, then wipe off firmly.
Saturating your whole hand with a too-wet ball will only dry out the area.
To remove glitter, use an oil based remover.
New
nail works
Colder weather
usually brings out richer, darker shades. This season, however, they're
richer, darker and sparkly-er. Check it out :
GLITTERATTI
Glitter
is gracing colors from muted grays and purples to bold greens and blues.
Nails can reflect your personality. If you're conservative, save the glitter
for your toes. If you want to be different, dress up glitter polish further
with a small daisy or star decal.
THE
INDUSTRIAL LOOK
Go for the
allure of flat metal; bold but not too flashy. Try muted pastels with a
punch such as Hard Candy's champagne-toned Sugar Daddy or steel-gray Sex
Pistol. Experiment with earth tones combined with a hint of silver.
FRENCH
MANICURES WITH A TWIST
It takes
some skill to pull off, but demure white tips are being coupled with some
in-your-face colors; bright reds, electric blues and deep browns. Paint
your nails first and then go over the tips with white. It's really cute
on toes too !!
ACCESSORIES
Nail piercing
and peel-and-stick decals are trendy additions to a manicure. Scour nail
shops and beauty supply stores for mini nail punches and studs. You need
long, strong nails to sport a piercing.
pick
a color, but any color ??
When you're
faced with so many new, exciting choices, it can be tough to make a color
call. First, try a few shades on several fingers and compare them. Look
at them in natural and indoor light. "You should be able to tell pretty
quick. If a shade looks weird, don't buy it just because it's the latest
color". Your skin tone still dictates which nail colors will look best
on you. If you like red, for example, there are reds that will look sickly
and a bunch that are just right. The trick is finding the perfect color
for you.
If choosing just the
right shade makes you nervous, stick to this beginner's color guide:
REDS
-- liven up fair skin tones
BLUES
-- add drama to dark, olive and tan skin.
BROWNS
-- ideal for darker skin tones.
