Federal Minister for Housing
and Works, Rehmatullah Kakar was born in Quetta, Balochistan.
He has obtained his Master’s Degree in Political Science with
a degree in L.L.B.
Rehmatullah Kakar was elected
Member of the Senate in March 2006 for six years. He is member
of the Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat, Petroleum &
Natural Resources and Interior.
He is affiliated with
Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal. He was inducted as Federal Minister
for Housing and Works after MMA decided to become partner in
the coalition government.
Rehmatullah Kakar assumed the
charge of his Ministry on March 31.
After attending his maiden
briefing in the Ministry, Rehmatullah Kakar said that housing
problem is getting more complicated, particularly in the
federal capital, and the need is to launch joint ventures with
public-private partnership basis to address the issue.
He said housing is a crucial
Issue, which merits special attention to resolve it on war
footing and provide accommodation to the low paid government
employees. He said the newly elected government of Prime
Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani has taken notice of the
existing housing and accommodation problems of federal
government employees.
